MATTHEWS TRAINING - ASME Plant Inspector Level 1

The Matthews Training ASME Plant Inspector Level 1 is a 5-day entry-level course for those wishing to consolidate their experience before moving on to ASME L2 or API inspection qualifications. It is the main route for inspectors and technicians planning a move into plant inspection from another discipline (such as NDT, weld inspection etc). Contains combined classroom and hands-on workshop training covering the basic topics of in-service plant inspection.

The PSSRs (Minor systems): Responsibilities, Written Schemes

Inspection of Vessels, Pipework and Heat Exchangers

Basic stress /corrosion calculations

Basic application of API inspection codes

Corrosion severity

Inspection reporting

All course material, text books, exam and certificate costs are included in the course fee. Course contains 90 minute examination and assessed vessel inspection reporting exercise. Individual pass certificates awarded by ASME (non-renewable)

MATTHEWS TRAINING - Pressure Relief Valves

Inspection and Maintenance

22nd - 25th February 2010 - 4 day course

6th - 9th July - 4 day course

The Matthews Training course ‘Inspection and maintenance of pressure relief valves (PRVs) is a practical training course tailored to the specific needs of the owners/operators of pressure systems. It combines classroom instruction and practical workshop training on various types of PRVs. It is an independent course that covers various types of PRV designs and is not specific to any equipment manufacturer. The global objectives of the course programme are to:

  1. Provide a mechanism for training and familiarisation of delegates staff with pressure relief valves, which are important safety-critical items of pressure equipment under The PSSRs and similar statutory requirements in other countries
  2. Enable delegates to develop familiarity with the practical aspects of PRV inspection and maintenance and demonstrate this familiarity to external bodies such as the site Competent Person and HSE.

This course operates as a public course at various venues and on demand as an in-house course at client’s sites. The course assessment consists of three parts:

  1. Continuous assessment of delegates throughout the duration of the course, particularly during the participation exercises.
  2. Written tests comprising a combination of multiple choice and descriptive questions. The pass mark is 70%.
  3. Practical workshop assessment test on PRVs using a case study format

Our centre boasts all the usual conferencing features with a variety of rooms on offer to cater for groups of all sizes. Our Executive Suite is a prestige location for a larger group, our Training Room is configured for getting down to business, again for the larger group, and smaller rooms also exist for Board meetings or special interest groups hosting up to 12 delegates.

When requested, catering is arranged to suit your every need from a basic refreshment package to a complete executive buffet offering.
